Furen Dai is an artist based in Boston and New York. She received her B.A in Russian Language and Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and her MFA from the school of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Dai’s practice is embedded in a conceptual attitude, with connections to her interest in the origins of language, categories and systems, as well as the social. Humour has an important role in her way of working. She sees materials as the physical manifestation of an artistic language to express the idea, while display, lighting, viewer, architecture, and text all contribute to the idea.
