This catalog documents Lu Shengzhong’s third solo exhibition at Chambers Fine Art in New York. The exhibition marks a clear departure from Lu Shenzhong’s traditional medium of Chinese paper-cut. Instead he makes positive and negative forms from white paper with geometric forms of cubes and spheres. While distinctively Minimal, the sculptures are rich with cultural and philosophical associations centered on the Chinese expression, “Square Earth, Round Heaven.” The catalog contains a foreword by Christophe Mao and essay by Robert Harrist, Jane and Leopold Swergold Professor of Chinese Art History at Columbia University.
