This catalog was published to accompany the exhibition Mi Lou: Recent Works by Hong Lei. Centered on a projected image of the legendary “labyrinthine mansion” of the Sui Emperor Yang (596-618) on the walls of a darkened room, the exhibition comprised paintings on silk, photographs and a video that refer obliquely to the erotic associations of Mi Lou and to the passage of time. Accompanying this idiosyncratic installation was a series of commentaries written directly on the wall of the gallery by the artist. Text in English and Chinese.
