Both recent graduates of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Zhang Dun and Mi Mai have chosen different paths, hence the title of the exhibition A Difference of Opinion. In her sensitive and large-scale pencil drawings of abandoned industrial sites and urban scenes in China, Zhang Dun continues a practice in which the hand-made mark is of supreme importance. In contrast, Mi Mai’s colorful ink-jet abstractions are the result of sophisticated computer programs which control not only colors, degree of saturation but also shapes, quantity, area etc. Text in English and Chinese.
