This catalog documents an installation by Wu Jian’an at Art HK 11. Covering the walls of the gallery space were eleven panels, covered in multiple layers of the artist’s signature brilliantly colored paper cuts. The thousands of writhing figures, all associated with the head of Xingtian in the center of the gallery, are assembled in closely related forms that suggest celebrated mythological figures, many of whom are still remembered in modern festivals and contemporary parlance. Text in English and Chinese.
