This catalog was published in conjunction with the exhibition Cai Jin: Return to the Source in Beijing. It focuses on a new series of paintings that the artist refers to as “landscapes.” After a decade in New York, Cai Jin returned to Beijing in 2007 and gradually abandoned the image of the Beauty Banana plant which had been the primary focus in her paintings for nearly two decades in favor of a more expansive, painterly style.
