Chambers is pleased to present a focused selection of artworks by Ai Weiwei from our exhibition at Taipei Dangdai. One of the most important themes in Ai's work in the last decade has been his overwhelming concern with human rights and the refugee crisis recently described as 'the most pressing moral concern of our times: migration.'

Tyre, 2017, a marble replica of four truck-tire inner tubes that are often used as life-buoys by refugees whose vessels capsize, derives from Ai's time in Lesbos when he saw them as well as other personal items washed up on beaches.

In the public space at Taipei Dangdai, a rectangular space covered with Odyssey wallpaper(2015) provided an unforgettable background to Law of the Journey, an inflatable boat filled withfigures inspired by the boats used by refugees in dangerous sea journeys to reach Europe.

Alongside these works we present Forever (Stainless Steel Bicycles in Silvery, duo) 2013, an elegant study in arrested motion, and Hands Without Bodies, 2018, carved in white marble and first shown at the UTA Artist Space in Los Angeles.
